Krush Performance: War On Sugar

This week, the Krush Performance WAR on SUGAR continues.

In 2014, Macleans Magazine ran a powerful article that rocked the sugar industry. It was titled “Death by Sugar: How the sweet killer is fueling the biggest health crisis of our time.”

Since then, it has been all out war as research has linked excess sugar consumption to brain diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer & recently lung cancer, reduced testosterone and of course obesity and diabetes – for these last two, the numbers are beyond scary!

Laura Swim, Nutrition Manager for Fresh Fit Foods, joins us to wade through the numbers and look at solutions and options.

Also, we discuss World Health Day.

The theme for this year is “Beat Diabetes.” The World Health Organization says Westerners need to SLASH SUGAR intake by Two-Thirds, to just between 6-12 teaspoons of sugars/day.

In 1822. the average adult consumed 6.3 pounds of sugar per year – today 107.7 pounds!! It would take the average adult 5 days to consume the amount of sugar in one 12oz can of soda. TODAY, we eat that much sugar every 7 HOURS!!!

It’s WAR!!!
