On this week’s edition of The MMA Insiders Podcast, Jason Floyd and Sam Caplan begin the show by discussing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson being placed back on the UFC 186 card after a judge overturned the injunction Bellator received two weeks ago.
Following the talk about Rampage, the guys get into Bellator signing Phil Davis and Justin Lawrence. How these signings could change MMA free agency and Caplan explains how free agency in MMA actually works. Next they get into UFC on FOX 15, who had the most impressive performance and the decision by FOX to have Daniel Cormier work the fight card.
Then, they talked about the television deal signed by CFFC with the CBS Sports Network and how so many promotions are not getting “rights fee” deal with networks. Is this business model sustainable and how the demographics between MMA and boxing are different.
Finally, they discuss the UFC’s decision to alter the Reebok sponsorship deal with fighters and answer questions submitted by the listeners.
