Yards & Stripes: Former Navy head coach Paul Johnson & former Air Force assistant coach Clay Hendrix

On this week’s episode of Yards and Stripes, Price Atkinson has conversations with former Navy head coach Paul Johnson and former Air Force assistant coach Clay Hendrix.

Now before Price chats with Johnson and Hendrix, he recaps Army’s 35-21 win over UTEP, Navy’s 31-21 win over Tulsa, and Air Force’s 56-38 lost at New Mexico. Plus, he gives out his weekly “Game Ball” and tells you how to communicate with the podcast on social media.

Then, he chats with former Navy head coach and current Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson. They talk about his time at Navy from 2002-2007, and the Navy “flavor” of his current Georgia Tech staff, and his recruiting philosophy of trying to find the right fit of players for the program. After his conversation with Johnson, he brings in former Air Force associate head coach and current Furman head coach Clay Hendrix. Price talks to him about his time at Air Force, the Air Force vs. Navy rivalry, coaching at his alma mater Furman, and what he misses the most about coaching at Air Force.

Plus, Price previews this weekends service academy football games and wraps up this week’s podcast with “Faces Of The Fallen” honoring a former Army West Point graduate handball athlete killed in the line of duty on August 18, 2005 in Afghanistan.
