Inside The Dugout w/Kevin Kennedy & Rich Herrera: May 23, 2016

ITD - PHOTO FOR RI SHOWOn today’s episode, The Skipper Kevin Kennedy comes off his weekend in San Diego broadcasting Dodgers games against the Padres.

We discuss the hitting woes of Giancarlo Stanton and his rash of strike outs. Kevin break down the five points of hitting alignment. Rich Herrera crunches some numbers from FanGraphs and does some video scouting looking at Stanton’s last week of AB’s. Rich asks Kevin to take us Inside the Dugout to talk about what its like when a hitter is in a slump and what a Skipper can do to help them get out of it.

Kevin and Rich discuss what makes a slider so wicked for a hitter and how it can make you so foolish at the plate. We also talk about how pitchers and catchers can be their own worst enemies by out thinking themselves and helping out a scuffling slugger. We also talk about the lost art of pitching inside in the game of baseball.

We review the big match up out west between the Giants and the Cubs, as the Cubs now head to St Louis for a match up with the Cards. What did the Giants pitching staff say this weekend? Kevin gives his thoughts on what he saw from Peavy and Cain.

Plus, the guys talk about what’s going on with the Blue Jays a week after their fight and what happened this weekend with even more ejections.
